perhaps its rude of him to sneak up on her like this, but the quiver is completely solitary today & when he didn’t find caroline in his house, he rightfully assumed she would be somewhere at the verdant. of course, knowing caroline, he should’ve known curiosity had gotten the best of her & she had made her way down to their enclosed, secret base; more surprisingly though, oliver had trusted her with the lock code, a combination only four people knew thus far. he’s mastered the art of walking silently & although he doesn’t know what caroline’s snooping through, he can’t help his own amusement.
oliver stands behind her for a few seconds, perhaps hoping she’d notice him before giving into the temptation of scaring her, but his patience is ever fleeting & caroline’s potential consequential reaction was far too much of a humorous image in his head. so he leans over & when his lips are fairly close to her right ear, he speaks.
’ ——— need any help? ‘
it’s not her intention to go behind oliver’s back like this – typically
she’s so OPEN and HONEST about everything she does and certainly
everything that she feels. her curiosity, however, could not be
satiated by merely his good word that everything is fine. everything
is going according to plan. what even was the plan? exactly how
dangerous was it? she was pretty certain that she could not go to
diggle or felicity with these concerns. hell, she wasn’t even
positive that they knew that she knew. but she needed to know more.
the files she finds in their secret lair ( she really hates the term
) are mostly composite, but there’s definitely some interesting
things she finds about some of the more frightening criminals in the
city. people oliver has been fighting against. it was incredible. in
fact, caroline was so caught up that she didn’t notice the figure
standing directly behind her – & when she hears his voice, the
papers she’s holding quite literally fly out of her hand as an
uncharacteristic SQUEAK escapes her. she scrambles to turn around,
clearly flustered and embarrassed.
“ oh my god, oliver! that is not
funny. what are you doing here? i thought you had lunch with thea. “
